Are your customer’s mouth’s moving, but not in the direction you’d like? Ter Scott's Secret Patron Service™ reveals all.

The only real way to find out FOR SURE is with the Secret Patron Service.

The Secret Patron Service allows you to see what your customer sees, hear what your customer hears and sense what your customer senses. With Secret Patron Service it will be as if you the business owner is “all knowing” which you will, at least mostly where your customer and client are concerned.
Hello, my name is Ter Scott. I without too much brag, I will tell you that I know a few things about marketing, about running (a good) business and what makes up good, bad or indifference in product, service or customer service; and how you can take responsibility to make the necessary small changes to excel and improve your product or service and exactly how to wow the customer service. (I created a complete customer service course which I presented as a course a few years back at a business college).

Those who know little about their customers know little about marketing. I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, “The best marketing is ‘word of mouth’ marketing”, right? What I teach my clients is that “ALL” marketing is word of mouth when it is done correctly and efficiently. Because regardless of how you got that person to at least walk in your door or visit your website, or to be a customer; and a “not so silent” ambassador with either a good or bad report to tell others “IS” word of mouth!
Another thing I’ll say about marketing, and this is something I’ve tried my “darndest” to ingrain in the minds of my students when I taught marketing on the college level, and to my clients is this. “ALL MARKETING WORKS”. Again, I will ask you if you’ve heard this from a business owner before; maybe even you, “Oh I tried that, it doesn’t work for my business”? Certainly we should “test” all marketing; to tweak it and use it again but in a way that gets the results that we desire, but not to drop it entirely. All marketing works but is your product or service up to par, and worthy of the “talk”?

Now that you know that “all marketing works”, here comes one BIG reason why most business fail in the first several years (or in the later years when business owners get too “successful” to watch over their “marketing”). The reason is this. When you have a poor or mediocre product or service presented through a poor or mediocre customer service delivery, your marketing will just tell the world that you have you have a poor or mediocre product or service much faster and sooner!
So my mission and intent with the Secret Patron Service and these others I’ll share in just a moment, is to help you to finally get “awareness” of what is going on in your business; and through your customer’s eyes.

I am pleased to offer the following types of professional services.

Ter Scott has been a “mystery shopper” for big companies like Coke a Cola, McDonald’s, BP, H&R Block and many others. He has also been a marketing “expert” for well over 20 years having assisted companies (behind the scenes) from small single person shops to large corporations, has created numerous logo images (Superior School District for one; which has been used since 2000) and has taught marketing and design at the adult college levels and continues speaking around the country on both business and life design. He has also been a rep (and trainer) for NFIB, a national association which cold calls up to forty businesses per day; he has the experience to walk in any door and get the information you seek. As a side interest he is also an “actor” appearing regularly on local stages. He definitely has what it takes to offer you and your business this very unique and exclusive Secret Patron Service.

Secret Patron Service

The Secret Patron Service is the most commonly used service. I use a bit of “cloak and dagger” in uncover surveillance mode; which isn’t as “James Bondy” as it sounds. The process includes a preliminary off premises meeting with you the owner, the unannounced “secret shop” by myself during a range of days and times predetermined by you the owner, and the “reveal” meeting some time later, where I share my findings and make suggestions sometime after the event. Additional optional services or a repeated Secret Patron Service visit may be scheduled for the future.

Professional Observer

I will accompany your driver or staff member during the entire work day. It doesn’t have to be “riding” with a driver, it could be my visit as an office day; or “disguised” as a “new hire”; who only lasts a few days or this could be made known that I am observing for a few days.  Then like the Secret Patron Service, I’ll report back with a rating in all areas preassigned by you the owner and suggest changes and improvements in those areas.

Personal Success Assistant

I will accompany you, for the entire work day; or several days (work days are usually five hours) and observe. The service is to accompany you; the owner for the predetermined duration, and my reporting back to you with a rating in all areas with suggested and optional changes or improvements in those areas. This could include personal coaching as well.

You may also like these other services available by Ter Scott.

Ter Scott Talks

Ter will “teach” great customer service (and other) skills to your staff which are “disguised” as fun trainings and workshops; all totally customized to your companies’ profile so you are sure to get the results you desire!

Run it By Ter (or What did Ter Say?)

Having been involved in marketing for so many years, Ter can see a print ad, or hear a radio commercial and tell you how to tweak it for maximum effectiveness. Sometimes the “tweaks” are very small other times it may be a complete “rewrite”; but the changes are optional and entirely up to you. The fee for this is only 5% of what the ad cost is. If you do your own marketing or have someone else do it, at least once in a while and with at least some of your ad projects, I suggest that you Run it by Ter.

Limo Lessons

This is a five hour day with business adviser and “Life & Legacy Coach™”, Ter Scott. You’ll both travel in a limo to such places as along the North Shore in Minnesota or Hwy 13 (Fall Color Tour area) for a one with one consulting; weather and schedule permitting. These sessions must be scheduled well in advance. Fees start at $2500.

All of these services are made available at very affordable rates as they are (mostly*) based on the number of employees your company has.

The Secret Patron Service is more than just what your customer sees, hears and feels about your business, Ter will reveal what your customer truly experiences so you can make the positive changes which will draw them back like a magnet and then tell their friends; but after you implement the findings from Ter’s Secret Patron Service what they tell others about you and your service will be “positive” word of mouth!

These services are typically available to business owners with businesses located within a 200 mile radius of the Twin Ports. They may be available outside of the Twin Ports area when all expenses including airfare, lodging, vehicle, and meals are added to the fees. Inquire.

*Some projects may require additional fees when the case warrants.

Ter Scott's Shocking Announcement for February 2020

Trucking firms Fold under the pinch of over regulations

Today I am promoting an organization which has been the watchdog and has fought for trucking companies across America for almost 76 years. I am speaking here as an NFIB rep and not necessarily for the NFIB organization. With the closing of trucking companies recently due to harmful legislation and over regulation this is no time to mince words and I will not. If you are an owner of a trucking business, I hope you'll hear me out and take positive action to save your business. Our country and its future generations depend on you.

Recently more and more trucking businesses have folded because of burdensome regulations. Some of these companies have been in business for over 70 years. We need to return to sensible laws and reduce the amount of regulatory restraints placed on truckers by government overreach. Inspectors have such a large perimeter of “blue sky” that they seemingly can penalize truckers and trucking companies with almost anything.

I'll share some links at the end of this article, but if you are in the trucking industry, I'm sure I don't have to tell you how and how many trucking companies are going under. I will tell you that I'm as mad a H*** and I'm not going to take it anymore; and you shouldn't either!!!

Certainly we need laws but do we need such burdensome regulations? Why aren’t these legislators who come up with these laws former truckers, former trucking company owners or former owners of even a simple lemonade stand? If they were, they may have some inkling of what it takes to own a business.

On the other side of the coin, owners of trucking firms must share part of the blame. It’s not easy to run any business and keep up with all the issues imposed upon it. That’s why I am proud to represent NFIB, the National Association of Independent Business. NFIB let’s owners know about pending harmful legislation so they can do something BEFORE it becomes law.

There are factions in this country which are trying to put you out of business. Don’t ask me why, they just are. They may not even know that they are but you know yourself that with the crazy things coming out of DC and your own state capital can, and are in some cases, causing trucking firms all across this great USA to close their doors. Who will replace these trucking companies? How will the country’s food and goods get to the stores? The closing of America’s trucking companies is a very dire situation and it needs to stop.

Hard times call for some hard words, and hard decisions. I am an NFIB rep and I will share something here which comes from me; and not NFIB. Not all owners of trucking companies need this whack upside the head, but it you are, please take this seriously.

If you are not a member of NFIB, regardless of the number of employees you have, join today. If you are a member and you are investing all you possibly can in your NFIB membership; thank you. But if you are a business owner and not taking advantage of the potential which membership can do for you and your business and industry, please take action to increase what NFIB membership can really do for you.

There are two things I see with trucking companies when I work with them as a rep for NFIB. One is that they aren’t a member; or they were at one time and haven’t renewed. It is so important to remain a member because these issues constantly change and NFIB is always at the forefront fighting for your trucking company. When your company grows, great; continue with NFIB. You may belong to an association; great, you should. But you should also join the synergy which is created not only by members who are business owners in the trucking industry but in all industries and all 50 states!

Secondly, and this is the hardest to understand, owners of some trucking companies do not realize the value of what NFIB is doing for their businesses and treat it like it like it is some insignificant small local charity. While NFIB fights for these firms to maintain their fleets, manage payroll, reduce fuel costs, registration fees, tax reductions and so much more; all which costs the firm thousands and thousands, these firms invest well under a thousand dollars every year to maintain their memberships.

Owners of trucking firms with so much at stake, in my humble opinion, should invest upwards to the capped amount of $15,000 per year to NFIB so they have a bigger dog in the fight. NFIB will fight as hard as possible to protect all trucking businesses with whatever membership fee a member chooses, but with more they can do more. A membership with NFIB is like the cost of doing business and staying in business. We’ll never know for sure, but how many of these trucking companies would still be in business if they had treated their NFIB membership as the powerhouse it truly is?  My suggestion is not to treat your yearly NFIB membership fee as a “donation” as many business owners seem to do, but to use it as it is meant to be; as “membership dues”. Place NFIB on your “payroll” and you’ll see things change for your business and the industry as a whole.

Here a few links if you want to ruin your day with "bad news".

Make a difference; join NFIB and when you do, please treat it like it can make a real difference in your business and industry becuase it can and it will when you do your part. If you currently don't have a rep, please contact me and I'll get you started today. Get started at a membership fee that you feel you can afford and then increase it as you can. The rate card below is based on the number of employees but you should consider basing it on the size of the dog you want in the fight!

Thanks for reading this. It may have been a bit "in your face" but I believe the time has come to get real. We are in difficult time but not impossible times. We can still make a difference. Again, please know that these are my thoughts and not necessarily those of NFIB.
